I have recently bought a router: never used one before. To learn
about them I searched Google and found numerous articles and some
Youtube videos. I want to have another look at them They were a
series of videos on basic routing techniques - particulalry making
jigs - I think 8 of them each about 4 mins longs. They all started
with an advert page (I think for a woodworking magazine) -- and then
"Hello, my name is ......"
The problem is I cannot find them, I did not note the magazine title
or the blokes name. (He was 50-60 grey hair and glasses)
Anyone know of these specific videos please?

If you run AdBlock on your (Firefox or Chrome) browser, you can skip
most of the ads on youtube except for those actually part of the video.

There are many very good woodworking channels on youtube - well worth
using the subscribe capability to keep track of those you watch.

Here are some good ones to get you started:

Alain Vaillancourt (aka the woodpecker)
Nice results from a power tool biased small workshop, high video
production values.

AskWoodMan (aka Allan Little)
Jobbing furniture maker with mostly power tool bias. Does lots of long
video series on projects from start to finish.

frank howarth
Hobby woodworker with a impressive workshop - very high production
values in his videos with very inventive use of stop frame animation,
and clever camera rigs etc.

izzy swan
Former professional woodworker - very inventive and creative with jigs
are workshop setups. Have you ever seen someone turn a bowl or make a
bowling ball on a table saw?

John Heisz
Again nice informative step by step videos. Technique and project based.

Laney Shaughnessy
As above

Matt Vanderlist
Well produced quite slow paced videos - well explained for entry level
woodworkers.

Matthias Wandel
Seriously clever designer of weird and wonderful jigs and woodworking
machines. Lots of designs available for download and purchase in some
cases. Lots of router stuff.

Paul Sellers
Very well produced videos for traditional hand tool work (only power
tool I have ever seen him use is a cordless drill). But if you want
clear explanations of the basics of cabinet making and joinery by hand,
he is your guy.

Steve Ramsey
Very down to earth project based vids (aka Wood Working for Mere
Mortals). Aimed at those with smaller tools sets looking for simpler
ways of doing things. Does a new project every week

The Wood Whisperer (aka Marc Spagnolo)
Very high production values and in depth videos on all sorts of (mainly
machine) based wood work. Also has paid for "guild" membership and
videos that go into exquisite detail on a project. High end results.

ThisWoodwork (formerly the "Teen Woodworker")
UK based young chap working from his mum's garage, interesting to watch
his technique and results grow with time.

WoodworkersJournal
Mainly a promo for the magazine, but has some nice one off bits on
particular techniques or jigs.

WoodWorkWeb
Nicely produced detailed vids by a hobby woodworker.
