Default Screws for windows frame fixing into timber surround

Is there a particular screw that best for this?

The main factors are strong (5mm screw), corrosion resistant and take caps.
Required length probably about 60-75mm.

So would you use a frame fixing screw minus the plug, or something like a
decking screw with pozi caps?

The surround is 3x3" softwood in a dormer.

Cheers,

Tim

I just used normal SF twinthread quicksilver of appropriate length...

OP wanted corrosion resistant though. Ideal would be stainless.

Quicksilver are BZP and so fit that bill. They ought not be betting wet
anyway in this application.

Metalwork in window frames gets condensation on it, with the worst being
wet(tish) areas followed by kitchen then bedroom (judging be the corrosion
on handlses and hinges after 21 years).
Goldscrews, exterior-use screws or stainless would be better. Quicksilver
are OK for a time but, for the low extra cost, the alternatives are worth
it.
