Hi All,

I have a wardrobe made out of the usual foil covered chipboard and
want to install a rail from the side of the unit to a wall about 1m
away. I have bought these rail holders

Fixing it to the wall is obviously fine but I was wondering what the
best method would be to fit the other end to the unit? I could of
course simply screw it to it but am worried about it pulling out given
the weight of clothes. I tried the bolt fixings used to join two
cupboards together which would work well I think but are too long
(diameter is fine) - i.e. these http://www.screwfix.com/p/inter-scre...ck-of-10/65152

Does anyone have any cunning ideas?

Use the "inter-screw-m4" pack, and pack out the inside of the cupboard with an off-cut of plywood. This will have the advantage of preventing the screws pulling through the chipboard with load too. (You might glue the plywood to the chip to distribute the load a bit too.)

Hi Martin

Thanks for your reply. I did think of this or even screwing straight
through the cupboard side into a piece of timber. I was trying to
avoid anything inside the wardrobe as your eye naturally hits this
spot and might look a bit "ugly".

Plan B: Put the offcut of plywood on the *outside* of the cupboard. Cut a slot in the plywood (before fixing) and drop the rail into the slot. Glue and screw the plywood to the chipboard.
