loose cover shrinkage
For some unknown reason, possibly the onset of spring and a decorator in
the house, SWMBO threw the loose cover from a bed/settee into the washing m/c. You guessed, it is now 5% smaller and beyond my strength to force fit! Is this situation re-coverable by any d-i-y trick or is it er.. curtains? regards -- Tim Lamb |

How about fitting it whilst still damp? -- fred it's a ba-na-na . . . . |

It _might_ work - I've steamed and stretched shrunken cotton curtains, and gained back several inches in length. |

You guessed, it is now 5% smaller and beyond my strength to force fit! Is this situation re-coverable by any d-i-y trick or is it er.. curtains? We used to have a couple of sofas with loose covers. Making them damp (or rather, not letting them dry completely) seemed to make it slightly easier to refit. They then dried nice and tight on the sofa. Dunno if making it damp would help you or if the damage is already done... Darren |

Difficult in practice unless you can think of something. (Put it on the chairs wet?) :-) |
