Also pay as little as you can until *you* have the "signed off" Building Ctrl approved paperwork in your hands - make that clear subtly if not already discussed or make sure you are there for the final Building Ctrl inspection to hear the approval first hand before paying. Jim K Unfortunately, it's not so easy, I asked the builder to only build the shell (as I know plenty of other tradesment, and I can do some stuff myself), so I have paid him in full for the work he has done to date. I know he got the inspector out to inspect the footings, oversight and wall insulation, and that the next callout is really after the roof insulation, electrics and UPVC is in. I was never around when they came out thou, perhaps I should get them out just to tell me everything so far is OK. Are they OK about that sort of thing?
