I need a few square metres/yards of fibreglass mesh similar to
plasterers scrim tape will do but much wider - say 18inch minimum?
Ebay offers 50m rolls at 1m wide - a bit overkill

Anyone suggest a source or users of similar to contact and cadge

A chandlery, but unlikely to be cheap... though equally, you should be
able to get shorter lengths.

You can get woven cloth and chopped mat by the metre from

www.fiberglasssupplies.co.uk

and all sorts of woven glass tapes from suppliers of West epoxies:

www.wessex-resins.com

Otherwise the most likely place for cadging a bit is a boat builder.

mmm yes but those appear to be "woven" cloths not the mesh I am

Wickes sell it. Probably located near the scrim tape.
I can't remember what it's made of.
