Default Aldi - Garden Vac

On offer this thursday:

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers...uys3_15308.htm

Anyone have one, any good? What are the two tubes out the front, I
guess the larger is blow, the smaller suck and there are manaul flaps
to control the function? Does the debris picked up have to pass
through the fan/mulcher?

In the process off pressure washing the outside of the house and
removing most of the old flaking paint, even with tarps down to catch
most of the flakes there is still quite a bit on the ground. Thinking
that vacing them up once finished would be good rather than live with
'em for the next 5 years...

The bits are on borders and grass covered large (10mm or so) gravel
paths. Will this vac survive ingesting 10 to 20mm stones, if it's got
enough suck to ingest stones of that size of course?

Got one couple of years back, better than a rake for leaves

Been a while since it was out , but yup flap to control between blow
and suck, blow into pile , suck up.

Does the debris picked up have to pass

Yup, to compress into bag.

As long as its dry , dont see it being a problem, wet flakes like
leaves might need persauded into air with stiff broom.

Mebbe odd bit of gravel , but its more a draught than a hurricane,
their is a speed adjust on handle , though Its no Billy Goat.

Overall ,on leaves, less grief than rakes and brooms on their own.

Adam

Be very wary of sucking up anything that is hard enough to shatter the
fan blades. I know this from what happened to mine thanks to a friend
who used it vacuum up a load of leaves + general cr@p in the garden.
The vac was a write off and he never did find the stone that was
ejected through the side of it. Geez, thanks friend!

It looks like a "venturi effect" vac.
The air is blown down the small tube and then jetted back up the large tube
creating suction at the end.
There is no reason why the debris has to go through the fan on these.
To mulch the stuff they probably have a removable strimmer type of thing at
the top of the big tube.
