You could try Windowlene and then coat the lead in Patination oil

You could try Windowlene and then coat the lead in Patination oil


will the lead always make the marks or will it "self-patinate" as it
were? been up there 2years now...

You could try brasso to get the marks off the glass

No it will not self patinate, it will get worst. It will not show up
on the lead but runs and leaves a white milkie stane were ever it is
above. Patination oil darkens the lead in colour and leave a film of
protection on the lead.
