Default Couriers and shipping...?

Hello all... Does anyone know of a courier service that will deliver
a longish parcel? I want to send an item within the uk 2.5m long but
of small cross section 0.1m x 0.15m but it seems most will not
accommodate items longer that 1.5mm (my item weighs only 3kg)... Any
help would be much appreciated

A *very* quick browsing session came up with

UPS: "Packages must not weigh more than 70 kilograms (or 150 lbs) or
exceed 270 centimetres (or 108 inches) in length or a total of 419
centimetres (or 165 inches) in length and girth combined."

Fedex: "Maximum 274 cm in length (always the longest side)"

Plus others.

I suggest you look a little harder and do some research for yourself.

Put it diagonally across a 1.5m x 1.5m box. It should fit.

I very much appreciate that... I have spent over an hour and a half
looking but I suspect that you are a much more competant user of the
internet than I... Anyhow, grateful thanks...

There's folks on the uk.people.consumers.ebay group who know lots
about couriers and shipping.

2.5m is the standard(ish) maximum length so almost anyone.

Try interparcel.com as a good source of quotes. Should be about £7.

Definitely not Screwfix: they bend fluorescent tubes to fit them in the
box...

Very long, very heavy parcels & pallets are typically sent by
NightFreight (far longer than yours) who use 13.5 tonners.

Just ensure it is well packaged on vulnerable apex/corner, the drivers
tend to be tired after clambering around and things really do slide
around inside them - no tie-down or partitioning.

CPC of course make anything fit any parcel.
