Default Western red cedar for greenhouse

Once upon a time good quality greenhouses were made of red cedar - usually
Western Red Cedar IIRC.

A friend needs to renew the roof of his lean-to greenhouse and is having
trouble locating WRC at timber merchants or on the net.

I have had a quick Google and the hits all seem to be for shingles or some
other kind of cladding.

Is there a good source of WRC in 2*4 or less, or is there an acceptable
alternative?

Using Tanalised timber in a greenhouse may not be particularly good for the
plant life.

TIA

It's still the best choice for local grown and it's easy to find.
Larch (can be a bit twisty) or Douglas fir (not quite so resistant)
are alternatives. Sweet chestnut is even better, and sometimes used
for doors or wear parts.

You need a better class of timberyard - a regular problem. Bendrey
Bros. near Bristol, or else check the ads in the back of Furniture &
Cabinetmaking.

It's the material of choice for beehives so you could ask Thornes where
they source it from.
