Glue, sh?t to blanket stuff
The current barn project has reached the stage where I am preparing the
base for laying concrete. I have brought the brickwork up to damp course level and plan to lay 6" of concrete to this level. Rather than relying on the membrane to trap the expansion strip I wonder if there is a suitable glue to *tack* it to the brickwork? ISTR somebody mentioning this sort of thing as a possible use for expanding foam. Is there something more suitable for attaching fibre bats to clean brick? About 40m worth! regards -- Tim Lamb |

The spray on contact adhesive as beloved by carpet fitters might do what you want. Quick and easy to coat large areas, and sticks on contact. Hopefully just a few dabs along the 2.4m lengths. I'll enquire at Carpet right? tomorrow. Ta. regards -- Tim Lamb |

They should have that where I am going for the expansion strip, so I will ask for advice. This was the stuff: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Adhe.../sd2857/p60449 It won't grab and it won't hold for about 20-30 minutes - so you'll need to prop the bats in position for that time (few bricks?). Once it's set they will not be coming off easily so they should be fine when you start slapping the concrete around. The main difference between this and regular foam is the expansion ratio - once it's out of the can (primary expansion) it will expand to about double that while it sets, so you don't need a lot and dots should be fine. It gap fills very nicely too. Cheers Tim -- Tim Watts Managers, politicians and environmentalists: Nature's carbon buffer. |

Cold, damp etc. for most of the coming week. regards -- Tim Lamb |
