Default Delivery Conditions - unreasonable?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "js.b1" saying
something like:

Packaging that is damaged is not obvious.

Indeed. A few months ago a fairly large arrived in a box that looked
fine and undamaged. Opening it revealed an item that had been smashed
beyond use or repair.
To give DHL their due, they coughed up virtually right away.
