Default Sanding sheets

Hi there. I've got a 1/2 sander, which has a sanding
surface of approx 230 x 115mm. The cheapest sheets I've
seen online are about £3.60p for 10 sheets. This seems
a bit steep. I could cut large sheets into suitable
sizes, but anyone know of a cheap supplier?TIA.

just be aware that paper designed for hand sanding has higher abrasive
density and tends to clog when used on machines. It still works, just
doesnt stay as clear as lower density paper for machines

IIRC poundland had 10 sheets of wet n dry for £1 recently

Just buy a roll of it, and cut of sheets as you requi

Works out about 7p a sheet that way.

Bertie Doe,

Or do what I do, pop to my local equipment hire and by it by the metre and
cut it to the size required to fit the base of the sander (or even use it
for hand sanding).

I must admit though, I buy this stuff *ONLY* when I have some real hard
sanding to do (it gives a fair bit of welly and endurance), and generally a
40 or 60 grit - for the lighter jobs, I pop down to my local Wickes store
and buy packs of 10 (at around £3) of 80 and 100 grit paper, and for even
finer sanding jobs (which I usually do by hand anyway) I use anything from
'worn' 100 grit and up to garnet paper.

Yes.

My half sheet sander came with a gizmo to measure the correct length of
sheet and with punches to pierce the holes correctly for dust extraction
through the sander base.

Unfortunately I think the supplier has gone out of business. Not beyond
DIY fabrication but maybe available elsewhere?

I don't have picture upload facilities but will try if someone
recommends the best route.

Wickes used to have large rolls of decent paper. Easy to cut with an
old scissors.

Thanks all, I didn't realise sanding rolls existed. 5m
each of say medium and fine, should last me a couple of
years or more.

Provided you do not tell "friends" and "neighbours" that you have such
items! (

I've been doing more borrowing than lending. I've been
making fence panels, to extend the existing concrete
block party wall from 3' to 6' high, using 9mm T&G. A
neighbour, a retired carpenter has been lending me his
electric plane and biscuit machine. These are
incredible bits of kit, but my usage doesn't justify me
investing in purchase - well that's my excuse.
