I have a Yale type lock on my back gate, with a door strike like this

There is a simple push button on the "public" side of the gate

It's connected to my alarm, so when it is dark, or the alarm is set, the
button is disabled automatically, but when it is light and the alarm is not
set, and another button inside has been pressed inside, the button outside
the gate is enabled.

seems to work for me :-)
