specifically dulux quick drying satinwood

i'm not getting on with it very well, yes its nice to rinse out the
brushes with water, but i'm not getting a great finish. the second
coat goes on but it seems pretty transparent and doesnt seem to want
to adhere. maybe i am just c*** at painting, i dont know?!

Basically it's exactly the same effect as emulsion paint and looks it.
Unless you are painting a sheet of glass, you will get a crap finish.
It does not *flow* like a decent oil one.

A paint pad is about the only thing for a half decent finish IMHO

i think your right about it not flowing like oil based paint. if i
remember correctly, i thought i read something about oil based paint
being phased out for environmental reasons, is this true? how widely
is the water based paint used now??

Water based acrylic primer/undercoat is a real bonus for interior work
but the gloss and satin versions are pretty hopeless IMO. I still use
oil based for topcoats.

i just thought id re read the instructions on the paint:

' dulux quick dry satinwood is drip resistant, and does not require
and undercoat' it can be used inside on primed or painted wood and
metal surfaces including radiators.with its anti yellowing low odour
formulation it is convenient and pleasent to use'

how to use: apply 1 or 2 coats. more if a strong colour change.. dont
spread paint too far... allow 6 hours between coats

i'm pretty sure the paint isnt too blame, i was applying it badly, i
seem to have learned a better technique of holding and applying the
brush now!
