My old mum is delighted with her new upvc porch, but wants a security chain
on the outer door.

I can think of various methods involving self-tappers, toggle bolts etc, but
don't feel wholly confident that they'd hold properly. Is there a 'proper'
way to fix security devices to plastic doors & frames?

Is it a high strength security door with a metal core?
If it is then self tappers work quite well.

If not then glue and a large plate is probably best.
