Default How to fix upvc quadrant?

When I had the windows fitted a couple of months back I told the
fitters to leave the quadrant between the window frame and the window
sill in my kitchen cause I intended to re-tile the kitchen. I've now
tiled (a whole number of tiles on the window sill left me with a gap of
less than 1cm between the tiles and window frame) and I am ready to put
the quadrant into place.
But how? I can't tell from the other windows if the only thing holding
the quadrant in place is the sealant, or if there is something else
doing the actual bonding.

Also, though the qaudrant will cover the gap with plenty to spare
should I still fill the gap with something first?

Thanks in advance from a hopeless amateur.
