Default Data projectors again

any knowledgable people out there and familiar with these projectors?

I've bought a new lamp a while ago but I'd like to know how many lamp hours
is left on the old bulb?

I have the user and service manual on this Sony VPL-PX1 but they dont show
how to access this mode so I was thinking only newer models began to have
this feature installed?

Muchas Gratious.

I work with projectors everyday and i have not yet seen one (including
one ancient one that is as big as a suitcase!) that doesnt have a lamp
counter in the menu somewhere.
Many also have filter counters that you have to reset.

I have never used that model personally but i have just looked in the
instructions and i see what you mean as it doesnt tell you. This isnt
that unusual though, ive spent ages trying to work out keypresses and
how long i have to hold the reset button down to reset filter
counters.

The lamp counter is generally in the last menu choice in the list (so
after you get past all the picture and colour set up bits).

This review http://www.dansdata.com/projectors.htm says it has a
counter in the setup menu.

OK further googling says that it is hidden until you display the
service menu which you need to do certain remote presses to get up.

Some googling finds this:
http://groups.google.co.uk/group/aus...79ca9bead72e54

which says
To get to service/factory mode, the Status-setting must be on and then
press, on the remote the following keys:
- service mode: enter+enter+up+down+enter (IIRC, havent used this
much)
- factory mode: enter+enter+left+enter
- user mode: the same sequence you used to enter the current mode
Then it will ask if you want to enter "whatever" mode, up for yes,
down for
no. Press up.
Now you are in the new mode, press Menu to see the menu with the new
tabs.

Much obliged Tom
thanks will give it a go in an hour or so when things are quite here.
Funny the service manual doesnt state this mode of lamp counter? I'll check
again just in case though.

Depends what the bulb is rated at. could be 4000 hours or you could be
lucky!

glad it worked!

The lamp for this model is 2000Hours If I do a reset for each time a lamp is
replaced would this set it back to defaults as I did not reset when I
replaced the old lamp with the new lamp?

you should reset the timer when you change the lamp (if it doesnt do
it itself). if, like you say it was not reset last time you replaced
it then you probably have 600 or so hours on the current lamp.
