Default replacing bricks...

During the weekend a friends gate was blow wider open than they are intended
to go. As a result the corners of 2 bricks in the wall where the gate hinge
used to be attached are now missing :-(

Reattaching the hinge will cover up most of the repair (it is a big hinge
plate), so aesthetics is not the most important thing but the dilema is
whether to replace the 2 broken bricks, or just try and fill the broken
corner with *something* and reattach the hinge (presumable with longer
screw/bolts so they bite into the remaining brick, and not the repair
material.

Can anyone venture the do-ability of replacing two bricks in the corner of a
wall, and what their resulting stregth is is likely to be?

Cheers,
Chris

why not? Angle grinder to cut into the mortar, cold chisel to finish
the job.

Presumably as new

If you still have the 2 broken bits, you could use car body filler to
stick them back. I've also used it to re-anchor the fixings when gate
hinges part company with brickwork
