GE Genura Lamps 2/4 synchronised failure
I bought 4 GE "Genura" induction lamps 3 years ago. These cost 20 quid
each (they are cheaper now online). One failed about a year ago, that I was prepared to accept as bad luck. This morning another one failed to start at switch on, and yet another went out during the course of the morning. Obviously the quality control is so good both lamps reached the end of their service life within minutes of each other. ;-) Only one now survives. They were mounted in a large "Texas Whorehouse" type ceiling fan, (which runs perfectly smoothly without vibration). The shades were like large glass bluebell flowers (Only the very best of taste), which might have hindered cooling to some extent, maybe, but the shade on the surviving one is only warm, it is in the slipstream from the fan. All in all a disappointing and expensive experiment. I have 2 such fans the cheapest way to buy them is in a box of 6, 2 of which would cost £190.35 from here : http://www.thelightbulb.co.uk/shop-cart.php?msg= leaving me with 4 spares. All in all a disappointing and expensive experiment. Cheap IKEA 9 or 11 watt compact fluorescents costing Ca £2.00, depending on offers, last about a year and a half. IKEA tomorrow it is then. DG |
