Who, as they are usually lending near the full value against the
security of the property, are effectively the buyers.

You will find a house without double glazing will sell very slow. If
there is a sale the cost of replacement may be costed into the final
price.

Not my observation on such a house locally. Went pretty quickly.

Then again, we're all straw chewing pitchfork wielding bumpkins down here in
Kent so what do we know...

You will find you're talking ********. The condition of the windows
and suitability to the property will be much more important to a buyer
than the thermal properties. In some cases, new double glazing would
seriously detract from the price.

Exactly. Around here you would not sell it quickly that is for sure.

If you have nothing to hide you would not object to such an
inspection and report.

Correct. I have no problem with such an inspection and report.

I have a problem with being expected to PAY for it.

You have something to hide. They are a brilliant idea.

If that was true they would already exist,

They are trying to get them - house MOT. That is/was the idea.

No, the Government is trying to enforce them by law. That's a
somewhat different thing than popular demand, don't you think?

Laws are not needed to encourage people to do what they want to
do, only what they don't want to do. Do you find this a difficult
concept?

The car MOT was not popular when introduced. A house MOT would be greatly
popular.

Law are to protect the weak from the strong, the cunning for the honest,
etc. You have something to hide.

Actually I have and yes it can, and at a better price than the one next
door which did have double glazing. The reason was that the DG was
inappropriate for the character of the property.
