It would seem my local DIY shop(large shop but not a shed) is cheaper than
screwfix on a considerable amount of items.
Just been there to the screwfix branch and I never even purchased one item
as I called into my local DIY yesterday to tot up some prices before
visiting SF today.

1 item was way too dear in SF an outside brasstap and backplate comes to
8.75GBP and my local DIY 4.85GBP

As local DIY blokey commented...Nah competion man.

Plasterboard Joint Tape

That's a Pack price (£70). How many tapes in a pack? Think it's 24!

They've got the sizes against the pictures wrong if you look.

The above is 96mm

Standard practice... looked through a Wickes catalog lately? The
effective unit price is commonly displayed when a bulk buy option is
offered. The key word is 'from'

What is it about Screwfix that has you rattled on a nice Sunday afternoon?

One is with a check valve and one is without, I'll leave you to work out
which one is which, so buying one tap and one back plate comes to 3.48,
are you costing these things one at a time and then adding postage for
that one item? screwfix make it attractive to bulk buy and up your
quantity, did you go into town (or wherever) just to buy your one tap,
that's the equivalent and then cost that out compared to a few minutes
online. I repeat, I buy fittings from screwfix and find them pretty
cheap (I also have trade accounts at plumbers merchants)

Uh? I'm pretty up on the prices of things and generally the s/fix stuff is
fairly reasonable. Even if s/fix were a _little_ more it would still
justify it's use on grounds of time saved.

BTW the s/fix tap with wall plate elbow is 2.03+0.93

Even the Pegler tap is only a fiver.

I can't believe that there is a discussion about the price of a tap
being £6.99 or £4.85.

The adhesive doesn't have to be strong,so long as it has got enough grip to
the plasterboard till you apply the plaster over it is all that matters.

I was on about the Subject line - if you want to attach someone to a
cross I think nails are probably more effective than joint tape.

Never mind.

The message

oops! so I did sorry,but never the less I wouldn't use 24 rolls. :-)

Maybe someone from Screwfix is lurking and changed the description?
Anyone care to own up?

Thats what I thought,Im sure I didn't see the "24pack" when I first looked?

Certainly didn't when I looked.
