Default Distribution through DIY stores

Hi

I just looking for some general advice.

I have a new product coming out of a University research lab that would
probably go to market through DIY superstores.
The product helps individual households reduce their energy
consumption.

Can anybody give advice on how this sector works?
what mark-up DIY stores would apply,
minimum sales volume we'd need to demonstrate before they would be
interested?
Would it have to be exclusive with one store?
Payment terms etc.

Thanks

The large sheds have a reputation for being hard to deal with. They hold
the 'channel power' and like the big supermarkets are completely ruthless.
I'm not trying to put you off, but be aware they will have the fillings from
your teeth given half a chance.

It's not another rehash of the 'lower the voltage to fridge motors' one
is it?
Have you actually had someone external to the team measure it to make
sure that it does in fact save energy?

No, it's not that project.
