Waste
I want to connect a dishwasher and washing machine to the same outlet. At
present the washing machine uses an untrapped 32mm vertical pipe about 8" long that exits the wall at about 2" above floor level. Is there anything on the market that has 2 inlets ? |

You could fit a tee and an elbow at the bottom of the existing pipe so you can bring another one up next to it. |

You should have a trap on all waste stacks in the house. It's not for the benefit of the appliance, it's to stop the unpleasant odours comong back up from the sewers. -- Stuart @ SJW Electrical Please Reply to group |

Dr Wu wrote: Is trap essential for dishwasher ?? It depends on where the waste pipe goes. If it goes into a stack, yes. Mine goes out through the wall, and into a gulley - so the gulley acts as a trap and there's no need for one inside. -- Cheers, Set Square ______ Please reply to newsgroup. But that implies if your kitchen sink empties into a gulley, then similarly you wouldn't need a trap under the sink. Surely not so?? David |

Strictly speaking, you probably wouldn't need a trap - but it would be unusual not to have one. -- Cheers, Set Square ______ Please reply to newsgroup. Reply address is invalid. |

I wouldn't not put a teap in no matter where the pipe goes as with no trap you've basically got a 1.5" vent into the kitchen. -- Stuart @ SJW Electrical Please Reply to group |
