Wall cabinets near cooker hob - regs for Scotland?
Please can anyone confirm what the Building Regs for Scotland say about
clearances for wall cabinets and hoods, over and adjoining a free-standing cooker? Assuming a gas cooker as the worst case, AIUI the minimum vertical clearance is 700mm for a (non-combustible) hood. For the (combustible) wall cabinets on either side of the cooker hob, AIUI the minimum vertical clearance is 450mm; or if less, an additional horizontal clearance of at least 50mm is required at each side. -- Ian White |
