Fitting new X axis power feed to BP
Been calling all over looking for that part I need to repair my
mechanical drive for my BP, but so far no luck......So I have been considering the new electronic drives out there.........Anyone ever use the HF brand of table feed? How does it work and how is fitup? I sure do not want to have to butcher up my leadscrew just to make a china import deal fit, so thats not an option......... Yea, I know I could feed table by hand for most of what I do, but joints in shoulders and elbows sort of put a severe limit to what I can do and for how long...............so I really need to fit another powerfeed. REMEMBER: "This is worth repeating for benefit of al newbies! Jo Ann asked Dr. Sooooooooooooooooolow to remind people that while she has retired from selling GF (and sold the business to Ken Fischer http://dandyorandas.com/) she has NOT retired from helping people with sick GF and koi FOR FREE. 251-649-4790 phoning is best for diagnosis. but, can try email put "help sick fish" in subject. Get your fish at Dandy Orandas Dandy Orandas Dandy Orandas........you guys got that DANDY ORANDAS |

Remember I wired mine backwards years ago Big mistake. had to have some stuff brazed back together....whihc makes me remember that the leadscrew is much longer than a regular one, and I had to jury rig something to use the machine while I fixed the drive while my news server was sleeping:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0548 848&rd=1 |

I'm sure that the ALIGN powerfeeds install just like the Servo ones they're clones of. You remove the 4 SHCS from the right end of the table, remove the handle and dial, and remove the right end piece of the table. Put on the machined adapter piece and the powerfeed unit. Then the tricky part, you have to put on the right number of shims to get the backlash correct, then you just put on another part or two and that's it. Take maybe half an hour. A little longer if you install the limit switch hardware on the front side of your table. Only thing with the servo types is they don't stop instantly, they keep "coasting" a little bit so you have to beware sometimes. GWE |

I cannot speak for the HF feed unit, but everyone of the imported units Ive installed were simply to install and did not require making any permanant or damaging mods to the mill. Ive probably installed 100 of them in the last 4 yrs. Gunner AFAIK you cannot change out a gearbox powerfeed with any other. maybe a lyman on the other end of the table. They use a different leadscrew[looooong] |
