Default off subject, dictionary???

I don't know, I may have spelled the word wrong,
but that IS the problem. I am looking for a dictionary
program for my cpu. I know I could look in 'the book', but
I am looking for a easier way. My wife has one, out in the
living room for people to see, and it is big and heavy, I just
want something 'here', that is easy to use. I have been going
to MWebster web site, but I am on a 'dial up' and it is slow, so
I have been looking for 'something'. I thought I found what I
was looking for at the computer show a while back,,,, it was
kids,,, "a for apple type stuff'. I would like a program that is
the same in volume as my wife's ''big book'', but now comes
the hard part,,,,,,, free. Would anyone know of a animal
"outthere" like that??????? Yes, if I have to, I would
consider paying,,,,,ouch!
Thanks in advance, I know this is 'off subject', and if
someone 'slaps my hand', I will not do it again,, but ''this
group '' has proven to be most helpful in the past", and I
appreciate that. cl 73

I use the dictionary feature of the google toolbar. I love the google
toolbar.

I'd rather have 10,000 shares of google stock for about a week.

I picked up a used speller in Circuit City back in ahhh '90.
Put in ambidextrous badly and it came back with the answer.

Franklin
Computer

SPELL MASTER Linguistic Technology by Proximity/Merriam-Webster

It needs a display , and I would love something even better on the
computer , but I'm lost. Whoever programmed it is good.

I used to have a cool paper dictionary that we'd play games in cause
it referred to other words. Got ripped like everything else and can't
recall what it was called. Sorry, Seemed like American Heritage , but
I have another and its isn't even close to the same.

In '80 I almost bought a computer , cash in hand. I assumed that it
would have at least a dictionary in it , the salesman explained that I
would have to program and type the whole paper dictionary into it.

Should have done it blindly.

Where is the RCM of plain ole windows? I get frustrated every time I
go to the Community Collage like real close to me. Don't they all have
to congregate at the same time as registration day. Seems like I can't
talk to more than one for each trip. There has to be an easy way to
have the main spell checker and dictionary at what ever part your
typing in come up.

Default off subject, dictionary???

Greetings.

I have a dictionary program installed in my laptop, but I am not sure
how happy I am with it, and even if I did like it I'm sure it's not
available any longer. Sorry. g

When I'm at my desktop computer, I use www.dictionary.com. Being
"profligate" (I just looked up "profligate" on www.dictionary.com.
g) I pay their (IMHO) reasonable fee for ad-free use of their
service. You can use their service (or at least most of their service)
for free if you don't mind the ads.

You might also want to consider one of the Franklin pocket
dictionaries. I've be using the Franklin dictionaries for a long time,
and I've found their spell-checking and dictionary capabilities to be
excellent. Unfortunately, they are somewhat slow, and are remarkably
short-lived.

Happy shopping!

Cordially,
