Default As Machined Solid Model Vs As Machined STL Model

The advantages of working with a solid model over an STL model are numerous. What you can see in this video is an advantage but there are other advantages as well.

One major advantage to creating an as machined solid model is for simulation over multiple setups where you have to quickly, easily and precisely move/rotate the as machined model to another fixture so you can see realistic solid cut simulation over multiple setups.

Ever notice that CADCAM systems rarely show solid cut simulation over multiple setups in their videos and the only time you see solid cut simulation over multiple setups is with expensive add-on products like NC Simul, Vericut, etc?

I firmly believe that solid cut simulation over multiple setups needs to be quick and easy to do inside every CADCAM product and that the best way to do this is with a real solid model and not an .STL model.
