If you are a folk music fan (not all that much bluegrass, but some) a
weekend at the Wheatland Music Festival might be to your taste. Take
cool weather and rain gear along with your tent and sleeping bag.

Multiple towns in East Texas hold blue grass festivals. Often a big 3
day. Summer time is the time for outdoors.

I've been in East Texas in the summer. Not sure the hot wind is any better
than the rain and cold wind in the upper peninsula. Atleast they don't have
gators on the upper peninsula. LOL. (Used to own property in Olton, hit
one and put a bike in the swamp once on the east side of the state when
traveling.)

Yep - gaters are here and there. They caught a 11'6" (as I recall) and
thought it was the record. Miss it by inches. That sucker filled the
back of a pickup. There was some good eats I bet that night.

Martin Deep East Texas in the Piney Woods.
