No Salute for Staff Sergeant Giunta?

By Attorney Rees Lloyd November 26, 2010 A moment of national pride took place recently in the White House when an American soldier, Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta, received the Medal of Honor for bravery above and beyond the call of duty in combat in Afghanistan. Technically, the higher-ranking officer isn't _required_ to salute, or even to return a salute. But this kind of rudeness just showcases the arrogance of Our Beloved Infallible Commissar, who said that We, the Voters, the Taxpayers, the payers of his salary and that of his unelected minions, are "not thinking clearly." Now the Lame Ducks are going to get as much revenge on the voters who "refudiated" them ;-) as they can get away with, much like Lame Duck Cheney/Bush and his trillion-dollar Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac bailout, which Our Beloved Infallible Commissar doubled down on. It's probably too late to save America from the ravages of socialism, we're just going to all have to learn the hard way, like the Soviet Union or any other of the failed communist regimes throughout history. I was in Southeast Asia when the American invasion forces got unceremoniously booted out of Vietnam; I saw Prez Tricky Dickie resign in humiliation live on TeeVee. I had no idea at the time how badly we'd lost to the Communists - they've taken over Washington DC. And I'm no Repugnocrat! Do we really want to go from the party of gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme to the party of KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL? Thanks, Rich Actually, Rich, I believe that you will find, if you dig deep enough in the military manuals that even general officers are required to salute a MOH recipient and are required to initiate the salute. At least that's what I was always told during my 21 years in the service. I could be wrong. You know how that goes. Jim |
