How much are you paying for mild steel these days? I've been paying $1.10 a
pound for square tubing over the last month or so. It was $0.65 earlier this year, in May or thereabouts. What are you paying right now? Jon |

What are you paying right now? Jon Recently, about $.60 to $.75 for hot roll, depending on size and shape. A year ago it was significantly less, perhaps 30%. Cold drawn 1018 has been pretty steady at a little over $1/lb in medium sized sections. -- Ned Simmons |

What are you paying right now? Jon The prices for steel have been rising over the last six months so have the scrap prices. Scrap went from .05 per lb to .10 per lb. I order a lot of round cold finish 1018 bar and it had been going for about .72 / lb. The last order it was .83/lb. on an order of about a ton. Hot rolled angle was going for .54/ lb on angle. I dont remember the square tubing price but I think it was about .75/lb. Stainless 303 bar is also going up. I have an order coming in and they quoted me 2.29/ lb. It was going for 1.95/ lb on the previous order a month ago. I doubled my order on the stainless as it is going a lot higher after the first of the year. John |

I'm paying more than you; I figured it'd be about the same across the country. Jon |
