Actually, we on the libertarian left are pretty close to anarchists,
which is mainly why the Libertarians running for office are mostly
libertarian right.

Ah - I think I see the source of the misunderstanding: Linear thinking.
It's either "Us" or "Them". The problem is, the Libertarians aren't either
- they're 90 degrees out of phase: it's "freedom" vs. "statism." The
"right" and "left" are just the two wings of the statist bird.

At one time, the LP was in a debate with itself
regarding principle vs. pragmatism. At the time,
there were several "pragmatic" planks in the
platform I disagreed with, so I was loathe to be
called a Libertarian (even though I often voted
that way, I didn't register as one), though gladly
accepted libertarian.

In skimming over today's platform, it would appear
the pragmatic elements I disagreed with are gone,
so... I guess I won't complain about the capital L
too much.

Now if we could just find some decent capital L-ers...
(Please, nobody suggest Lyndon LaRouche.)
