Yes, I would call the police and ask they if they are corrupt. i Its all relative. Compared to Chicago or Allsip or Cicero, they're an honest bunch. But, I'd be surprised if you don't pay 50 or 100 a month to watch the place. I haven't lived in the area for 30 years but old habits die hard. I do not really mind that, what I do mind is Russian style shakedowns. i That sort of corruption is unheard of in the Western states. Really. We tend to take suggestions of payoffs and bribes rather seriously and deal with them permanantly. When such things occur..they are rare..and harshly delt with when they do occur. The cities of Maywood and Bell recently found that out.... http://www.lewrockwell.com/grigg/grigg-w154.html http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...-lay-offs.html http://www.mediaite.com/online/the-w...uncil-meeting/ http://www.laweekly.com/2010-07-29/n...ll-corruption/ They are side by side in the heart of Los Angeles...and like a couple of pigs...scratched each others backs..until they were caught... http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/c...-hits-maywood/ Bell and Maywood are "industrial towns" that had few residents, but a big big tax base because of the factories. As some areas are..they are occupied between 6am and 5:30 pm..then...everyone in town...leaves. From the LA Times.... "Maywood, California, one of many American cities featuring 90 percent illegal aliens, illustrates a case in point. From an LA Times article, "http://www.vdare.com/sailer/060730_immigration.htm"6+4 = 1 Tenuous Existence", for a short time, an illegal alien lived with his family in Maywood, but discovered that crime, drugs, guns, prostitution and dilapidated schools made life miserable. He moved into the heartland of America – where he discovered safety in the America of law and order. "What we weren't able to do in many years in California," Alejandra said, "we've done quickly here. We're in a state where there's nothing but Americans. The police control the streets. It's clean, no gangs! California now resembles Mexico— everyone thinks like in Mexico. California's broken." http://www.vdare.com/sailer/060730_immigration.htm Gunner I am the Sword of my Family and the Shield of my Nation. If sent, I will crush everything you have built, burn everything you love, and kill every one of you. (Hebrew quote) |

Somebody will stop by and ask for a donation to the benevolent associtaion, or the fireman's fund or something like that. You, of course, are free to decline to contribute. (At your peril) That's OK. It is much worse in Russia. i |
