I think it was the quotes from John Adams, George Washington, Thomas
Jefferson and Tom Paine that got to them. g

Once upon a time I read one of the Thomas Jefferson quotes mentioned in that
video to some religious conservative friends, who said that the US was
founded on Christianity, and asked them who they thought said it. "Marx,"
"Hitler," etc. were the guesses. When I told them who it was...well, the
reaction is something I won't forget. Then I read them one of the Thomas
Paine quotes about the Bible. Ouch!

I wish I had those quotes handy in catechism class. Sister Madeleine could
turn a remarkable shade of purple when you got her going. She tended to
spit, too. d8-)
