Some federal installations, such as Ft Hood, have ceded law-enforcement control to the local authorities. The fed and the locals have overlapping jurisdiction, but it is the local "Barney Fife" who responds to reports of criminal activity on the base. Ft. Hood's police force is under DOD. They are civilians and work the gates and patrol, just as MP, AP , etc. used to do. Edwards AFB, where I had to go to get my new ID card when I turned 65, is the same. Jim |
