It looks similar to a 10" Maximat, which I really wanted after reading
the catalog until I saw one up close.

This appears to be an improvement on the old Emco V-10/Compact-10
lathes. See:
http://www.emco.at/index.php
http://www.lathes.co.uk/emco/page8.html
http://www.lathes.co.uk/emco/page4.html
We are currently using an Emco Compact-10 with the milling head
as an instruction lathe at my college with very satisfactory
results. It is limited in the depth/size of the mill cut, but
performs very well as both mill and lathe.
The only comparable machine I could find that is sold in the US
can be seen at http://www.wttool.com/p/2007-0010

V-10/Compact-10 tours. Voyez:

http://www.lathes.co.uk/emco/page8.html
http://www.lathes.co.uk/emco/page4.html
