Default How to filter Iron and Manganese from water supply?

I have an Iron problem in my water and need some suggestions of what
to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I got my water tested and this is what came back. pH is 6.5, Iron is
7345 micrograms/litre, Manganese is 658 micrograms/litre and Hardness
is 121 mg/L.

I have been calling some companies about what option they can offer
me, and although I have only started today I have had a few different
offers.

The iron is dissolved in the water so one company suggested using
Crystal Right and use a backwash system overnight. I'm not sure if its
better to filter the iron out while in its dissolved state or oxidise
it and then filter it out. I'm not particularly worried bout how much
this will cost but every company I approach is adamant that their
procedure is better than the rest.

I live in the country and my supply is from a well. A neighbour of
mine has used an effective but kind of primitive method. He built a
huge tank with 3 stages, which are filled with sand. It seems to work
fine for him but he was to clean out all the sand every year.

Like I said any help would be great..Thanx..Kevin

Filtering out iron, with sand. Sure would like the plans for that one. Love
to see the test results before and after the home made filter.

You fail to say how much water you need per day or if your just planning on
doing every drop that comes into the home.
