Min standpipe height above trap for washing machine?
I'm moving my washing machine into the basement.
What is the minimum distance that the standpipe should rise above the trap? I just dry-fitted the parts, but am concerned that I only seem to have about 12" of standpipe above the riser. Thanks. -Pat |

Code Check West 2001/2002 indicates that the 2000 IRC and the 1997 UBC require "standpipe receptor = 18in. above trap". The maximum height is 42 in. per the 2000 IRC and 30 in. per the 1997 UBC. I was afraid of that.
I was trying to leave as much of the stack uncut as possible, but didn't think about the trap riser height. Fortunately, I didn't install the tee yet, and am only looking at cutting another set of holes through the studs. Thanks. -Pat Wayne Whitney wrote: On 2005-01-30, Pat Coghlan wrote: I'm moving my washing machine into the basement. What is the minimum distance that the standpipe should rise above the trap?
