Some four years ago this subject was discussed here, as copied below. I
appear to have the exact same problem, and I am trying to determine if my
motor needs to be replaced as well. I do see wires marked MO1 through MO6
(MO6 is green/yellow, and should be ground), there is no MO7. On the motor
end there is one blue wire, 4 black ones and a yellow/green one. MO1
connects to the blue wire, MO6 of course to the ye/gn one. These are my
measurements:

1-2 34.7 ohm

1-3 34.7 ohm

2-3 34.7 ohm

4-5 3 ohm

Everything else is open. The motor is Siemens 1BV5565-2BM. The repairguy
came, never openedd up the machine, and said that a new motor was needed, at
a cost of about half that of a new machine!



So here's the question: do you think that the motor is bad or not? Thanks a
lot!

At the start of the spin cycle, you should see the tub rotate in one

direction a few seconds, then the other intermittently before it

actually goes into spin. Does it do that much? Does it tumble in wash?

(be sure, it's important...) Or, does it seem to do everything ok up

until it gets ready to go into the high speed spin then it takes a nap?

I would take off the lower panel so you can see into it, put it in spin

cycle and watch what happens. If the motor seems to make a funny

whining sound and you see sparks ( a few are normal, the motor uses

brushes) you may have a bad motor. You can unplug the machine and check

the motor windings if you have a digital ohm meter. You should find the

following... between wires marked "MO2" and "MO3" you should have 2

(two) ohms. "MO4" and "MO5" should be 5 (five) ohms and "MO6" and "MO7"

should be 71 (seventy one) ohms. (all can be + or - 10%) If you find

other than these readings you have a bad motor. If you do have a motor,

depending on when you bought it, the part should have a 4 year part

warranty past the original first year. (As does the pump and timer)
