Default Water damaged bathroom flooring

Hi,

My bath seal had a leak that has caused the originial tongue and groove flooring in the bathroom to warp and buckle. I would like to lay some lino but can with the uneven floor. My choices appear to be:

1. Replace whole bathroom floor or
2. Screw/Nail down boards to joists and cover with a couple of layers of underlay (like the stuff you use for laminate flooring) before laying the lino

I doubt I could get a joiner pre-Christmass for option 1 so am looking for a DIY solution if possible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I can't tell what type of floor you had from your description (original
tongue and groove
flooring) but I think you will be more pleased with the results if you:

1. Sand the floor to a semi-smooth finish and use an inter-flex linoleum
over that or
2. Lay down a proper 1/4" underlayment before you install traditional
linoleum

If using the underlayment it may be necessary to use 2 wax rings, one
regular and one Kant-leak under the toilet bowl to prevent leaks. Put the
regular on the bottom and the one with the collar on top.
