Okay here is some more info
Integrating a softener into our 1 year old house would be a breeze. Pipes are very accessible. 2.5 bath, 1 kitchen, 2 outside faucets. Two adults, a 7 year old, 30 fish, and a cat. The reason we are looking for a softener; I was unhappy with the hot water output, so i thought I would replace the cheap generic contractor elements with those "double looped" quick recovery type of elements. When I removed the elements the gap between the lower element was totally closed off, and the upper element was well coated as well. This was only after 11 months. It took 2 hours to vacum out the deposits in the hot water tank with a rigged shop vac attachment. So I am assuming very hard water. This message was written on 100% recycled spam. SAM Hi, Getting a proper capacity depends on hardness of your water and number of people in your family(amount of water you use). Is your house plumbed for softner? Tony |

Tony As another person who is interested in a softener, don't you need a floor drain for water softener ?? I understand that the drain is necessary to drain the brine. Can it be integrated with the washing machine drain ?? |
