Default Virus is is now rising in 40 out of 50 states

Now there are fears hospitals could run out of ICU beds, after what Dr
Anthony Fauci, the governments top infectious disease expert, called a
very disturbing week.

I think its pretty obvious that we are not going in the right
direction, he said.

https://www.news.com.au/world/corona...c2951995ec0c88

Then you hear from the chief dickhead:

Todays announcement proves that our economy is roaring back, Mr Trump
told reporters, saying his effort to beat the virus was a historic thing.

Historically inept.

We're uniquely placed in history to actually be able to do something
about plagues, yet we rely on the same old tactics of relying on
superstition and blaming the "other" in our societies.

Thats not true. We havent done lockdowns on this scale before
and we have got a brilliant result in the places that have done
it earliest and most effectively like with New Zealand, Taiwan
and Austria etc.

Even better, Trump is holding two more gatherings of thousands. He's going
to Mount Rushmore tonight for fireworks, 7500 tickets handed out, then more
fireworks tomorrow for much larger crowd in DC. Neither will require masks..
That's some great leadership in action.

Just saw another sad spectacle, another federal govt official's credibility
destroyed on national TV due to Trump. Today it was the Surgeon General.
He was on the Today Show, first question was about the above two events.
The host explained what they were and asked whether the Surgeon General
would recommend that a family member, a loved one attend those. He spent
a couple minutes wandering around the wilderness, only to be interrupted
and reminded that he was not answering the question. Still, he blathered on
about general guidance, it's up to the states, it's up to each person.
If we had a competent, fit president grounded in reality, he would be able
to speak the truth and answer the question.

How's Herman Cain doing?

We are trying to walk that fine line between flattening the curve and
national bankruptcy. At a certain point it is hard to tell which is
the most serious problem. We could lose a few million to the virus or
we could kill a billion or 2 in a world war.

That was how we ended the last global depression.

The US has printed almost $8 TRILLION out of thin air in the last
decade. (along with amassing a debt much larger than our GDP) Some day
someone is going to ask "how can we trust the dollar"?
Then **** will get real ugly, real fast and that virus will be the
least of our worries ... world wide.

You realize, I hope, that flattening the curve was/is only an
intermediate goal. It was a goal at the start so that hospitals in a
given area don't become overwhelmeed by sick people.

But even with a flat curve (is that a paradox?) there will still be
people sick with Covid, may as many as will fill all the empty hospital
beds, inc. the empty ICU beds. And 5% of those people will still be
dying

The actual goal is to isolate everyone with the virus, to track down
those they've been in contact with and isolate them, and treat them all
medically, until the virus stops spreading. (Until someone infected
comes from a different country or a different part of this country.)

Too many people think flattening the curve is the best and final goal.

Treat? There is no proven cure. I'm not equating the virus with the
common rhinovirus but the treatment is the same; ameliorate the symptoms.

"Treatment" is just attempt to keep the patient alive intill the
disease runs it's course.

We are down to one death in the last 3 weeks, 1 new case on Thursday,
and 3 today in our region.

You don't understand the difference between treat and cure? So since
there is no cure, if you or someone in your family got it, you'd stay
home and let what happens happen?

So maybe you do understand. So why did you bother to post since you're
agreeing with me. Just too quarrelsome to stop yourself?

In a truly free country with virtually open borders like the US,
flattening the curve is really all we can expect.
This is not an island and we have no real way to enforce quarantines.
What do you think is going to work?

Change your quarantine laws to give them some teeth and allow states
to close their borders. Canada's Maritime provinces closed their
borders. As of this week you can finally move between Nova Scotia, New
Brunswick, and PEI - but you still can't get in from Quebec - or the
Infected States of America.

OK I suppose we could just scrub off the concept of habeas corpus from
the constitution. Until then, if the person files a writ, it is up to
the state to prove there is a reason to hold them.
Simply crossing a state line or a border, with proper documentation,
there is no "case of rebellion or invasion" Article One, Section 9,
clause 2.

Common sense is not that common but some of us use the principle of
"get the **** away from me" and washing our hands a lot.

I suspect people in pickup bars are not as careful. Corona might not
be the only virus they can catch there tho. They are also toying with
herpes, HPV, HIV and the various forms of hepatitis. They might not
think Corona is the most dangerous of those for a 20 something.

Then **** will get real ugly, real fast and that virus will be the
least of our worries ... world wide.

And now it's not flattened anymore, we just had three days with 50K+
new cases.

We are trying to walk that fine line between

flattening the curve and national bankruptcy.

Nope, there is no possibility of national bankruptcy
or even anything like the great depression either.

At a certain point it is hard to tell
which is the most serious problem.

Bull****.

We could lose a few million to the virus or
we could kill a billion or 2 in a world war.

There is no possibility of a world war now.

That was how we ended the last global depression.

But handled 2008 much better. Unemployment
only went into double digits for a couple of quarters
and then headed back down again. That will happen
this time too, you watch.

The US has printed almost $8 TRILLION out of thin air in the last
decade. (along with amassing a debt much larger than our GDP)

It was worse with WW2 and we handled that fine.

Some day someone is going to ask "how can we trust the dollar"?

Nope, because there isnt another more trustable.

Then **** will get real ugly, real fast

How odd that it did after WW2.

? and that virus will be the least of our worries ... world wide.

Mindless silly stuff. This virus will die out like the spanish flu did
and the world will carry on regardless just like it did after WW1,

Not sure the result will be better with 500K dead and an economy in a wreck
anyway. We had a chance to beat Covid, like China, Taiwan, SK, etc.
Instead Trump accepted defeat, gave up and joined the crazy armed militias. Biden is right.

What do you call all of this Covid panic?

If the economy collapses and the dollar crashes, we will worry a lot
more about how we will pay the interest on the debt than whether some
old people die a year early. We could easily lose a lot more people if
the feds stop being able to afford Medicare and Medicaid.

Appropriate measures in a pandemic.

The US has printed almost $8 TRILLION out of thin air in the last
decade. (along with amassing a debt much larger than our GDP) Some day
someone is going to ask "how can we trust the dollar"?

If the economy collapses

It didnt even in the great depression.

and the dollar crashes,

It didnt even in the great depression.

we will worry a lot more about how we will pay the interest
on the debt than whether some old people die a year early.

That last is flagrantly dishonest.

We could easily lose a lot more people if the feds
stop being able to afford Medicare and Medicaid.

Thats bull**** too.

And Trump is at Mt Rushmore right now, celebrating with fireworks. 7500
tickets given out, no masks, no social distancing, not even for the security
folks. Another job well done! Herman Cain must be proud. Tomorrow it's
a much bigger fireworks crowd in DC. Why Trump isn't at like 20% in the
polls by now is incredible, sure looks like that's where he wants to be.
Go Trump, Go!

Who cares?? People are going back to living normal lives and most don't
even know they've had the virus. It's time to more on.
