Default Outdoor-Mounted TV Antennas

Do Outdoor-Mounted TV Antennas get less effective with age?

Do the pivot-points of the elements need to make a good *electrical* connection, or is
proximity good enough?

They can do if you get water into the coax or the balun fails.

Do the pivot-points of the elements need to make a good *electrical*
connection,

No, but the coax does to what it connects to.

or is proximity good enough?

They just need to be where they are supposed to be.

That's with the more common yagis. There are some
other less common types of TV antenna that do need
the elements electrically connected.

Yes the two 1/2s of the elements need to be electrically connected at the center.
They don't _need_ to be connected to the boom but the 2 halves do need to be
connected to each other.
