Default Repair Manifesto

You too should join the radical repair movement railing against the disposable society. I did so many years ago and I'm glad to have found many more people who share my disdain for blatant consumerism. Most of my tech devices such as computers and peripherals are refurbs or rescues from the trash heap. ^_^

Small fans are one thing that is often tossed when they quit turning . They
often need just a drop or 6 of light oil ... 2 down and one to go , but the
3rd might have a loose bushing which oil probably won't help .

I've repaired many appliances and fans by drilling a tiny hole in the bronze bearing housing in order to get at the felt in the oil reservoir. I use a syringe filled with oil where I've ground the point off the needle so it's just a tiny tube which fits into the tiny hole which can be sealed with a drop of hot melt glue after soaking the felt with oil. I use turbine oil from a Zoom Spout oiler or 3-IN-ONE oil. The syringe can also be used to apply a small amount of oil on the shaft at the sleeve bearing so oil doesn't drip all over everything. ^_^

Hmmm. I most certainly don't understand how I can access a copy of a
zip file but then not be able to unzip it so I can watch it. That
seems VERY clever!
