Default FLIES!

Occasionally, I would open the rear sliding door to let the cat play in
the yard and left the screen open. We noticed flies in the house and
decided to keep the screen shut. We thought we killed all the flies but
the mothers are still around and not just one or two, we are killing
several every day. The little ****ers are reproducing somewhere and we
can't figure out where? All garbage is out of the house, nothing is
rotting, decaying or smelling. The house is kept cool, reducing the
moist areas flies like to remain. Where the hell can these little
*******s be coming from?

Are these housefly-size (7-10mm), or fruitfly size (2-3mm)?

If the latter, they may be breeding in houseplant soil. If the former,
examine closer to be certain they are not princess ants.

Princess ants? Yes, common housefly.

Interesting creature, that princess ant. I viewed photos online and
that's not it. It's a common housefly.

Thanks

I've had success with bug zapper, used indoors.

Princess ants are not a species of ant. It is a caste. As a general rule,
they (and male drones) are about twice the size of the corresponding
wingless worker caste of the species.

By all means, take a few to a professional exterminator for positive
identification. If they are ants:

1) The good news is that the problem will seem to clear up quickly as time
passes out of the breeding season.

2) The bad news is that your house has a mature colony hidden somewhere.

Of course, if they are not ants, you must search a bit further to find out
where they are breeding. A dead rodent might provide enough meat to sustain
a few generations of ordinary maggots / houseflies. A small carcass might
not even give off a lot of smell, because the maggots feed on the dead meat
before odoriferous bacteria can. In this case, the problem should take care
of itself when all that is left is hair and bones.

Keep yer mouth shut, David, and you won't catch any flies.
And don't forget to tell yer doctors that you want another lobotomy.
