As you say, in the USA (in the vast majority of places), it is legal for
*any* vehicle to turn right on red, provided that the driver/rider gives
way to pedestrians crossing the road he is entering.

I can't think of any good reason why a "turn left (*only* left) on red"
rule would not work in the UK.


I can. There's too many ****ing cars going the other way, usually.
Which is why the rule doesn't apply in New York City.
