Sigh, half the species gone is quite a big mess. That's life on Earth. A volcano coughs and things die. I realize that's just something I can't do anything about. Senseless slaughter of endangered species to hang their heads on walls is something we *can* do something about. And people are doing something about it. They've walked out of Palmers dental practice, it's now closed, he won't be getting revenue to go kill the next endangered species. Zimbabwe has halted the killing of lions, they are working on new laws to protect them. See the difference? You said it in the context of an endangered species where a hunter just lured a well known lion off a preserve and shot it so he can put it's head on a wall. What do you think not only making every BS excuse possible for Palmer, but then saying "if a species is meant to survive it will", means? And what do you think, when confronted with the numbers that show lions have gone from 400,000 to 16,000 in just fifty years, lying and trying to say that I used it to show that man is responsible for the decline means? You tried to use statistics to somehow bolster you overreaction. I just gave you the facts of the shocking decline in the number of lions. So did Ed. Where are your facts, your numbers, that show otherwise? And where are you "facts" that say that we're wrong that the decline in almost all endangered species today is due to man? Where is that? And yes, I believe you've gone way past overreacting to Palmer killing that lion. It's a cat, and cats can reproduce by the litter, so I'm not worried about one lion being killed. If the big cat population isn't strong enough to sustain itself even with our help, and even with the ultimate predator going after it, then it'll go extinct. See, there you go again. I guess Palmer and similar are "helping" the lions. Idiot. That's just how things work. It doesn't mean I like it, approve of it, or promote it. It's just life. It's just life if we let idiots like you make the rules. And note that while I never used those numbers to show that man is responsible, everyone else, including I think everyone in this thread, knows that man is indeed responsible for almost all the species that are endangered. Simple question, do you deny that? Yes or no? So, now, you speak for everyone else?? You don't answer a question with a question. Avoidance noted. I prefer to reserve the use of "scum" and personal outrage to murderers, abortionists, and other such people of equal criminal prowess. And I prefer to reserve the use of "village idiot" for people like you. is one way that we can change it. It's already lead to a halt in similar hunts in Zimbabwe. Yet, here you are, ****ing all over the outrage and defending Palmer. It's a cat. Don't get me wrong, I like cats, but I'm not worried about the population of them, either. It's not just a cat. It's not a house cat. It's a LION, which is an ENDANGERED SPECIES. There are things I'd get outraged about that you'd probably not think twice about, so there you have it. We're different people. Go figure. I see, so it's OK for *you* to get outraged, but if most of the civilized world gets outraged over the senseless killing of Cecil, well we're wrong and here you are, the village idiot, making all kinds of excuses for him. I try to not berate people in general, and only go there when I've been pushed into a corner and I've no choice but to respond in kind. You seem to prefer going there first. No, I only went there after your thoroughly demonstrated that you're indeed the village idiot. You're further demonstrating it in this post too. You could just see that we come from different perspectives, and even if you don't understand mine, you could just agree to disagree cordially. [...] -- Maggie No, because the arguments you present are not based on fact, not based on science, not based on any kind of logical reasoning. You're the village idiot. |

In every instance that I can recall, when the FACTS came out it was completely opposite than what the MOB thought. The last time I checked this is still America where you are innocent until proven guilty IMO we have mobs who are just waiting for something to happen which they can 'hitch their wagon' to. They can't be bothered to think things through well enough to see that the happening they are glomming on to is not what they thought (or wished) it was. I think the black guy who died as a result of the "rough ride" given to him by the police was one the "Black lives matter" crowd was right about, but not any of the others were. The police are doing their job, and if they got some respect shown to them then many of these things would not escalate the way they have been. Too many parents are raising anarchists IMO. As far as the lion incident goes, some of that high price for trophy hunting is supposed to help fund the conservation rangers who have to fight the poachers of other species as well as protected lions - but there is too much corruption in the system and governments to have that actually work. -- .... I focused on the question itself which was: Can someone tell me one instance where the mob has been right? I did miss the part about "happened lately". But I would say Weiner fits that, it wasn't that long ago. And I'd also say the backlash against Trump two weeks ago, when he claimed McCain wasn't a war hero, then said that OK he was a war hero, but only because he was captured and Trump prefers the ones that were not shot down, that "mob" was right, but for some reason, even though Trump refuses to apologize, it died down. So too was the "mob" that went after trump for slandering illegal Mexicans as rapists and drug dealers. I agree that on a lot of the other cases, the mob has been wrong, eg Michael Brown. But it was also clear that they were wrong factually pretty much from the beginning. So far, I don't see any indication that's the case with Palmer. Just what we know, what even Palmer himself says he did, is repugnant to me and obviously a lot of other people. Something doesn't have to be illegal for people to take a stand, to speak out and say enough. Don't you feel that way about abortion for example? Are the protesters outside abortion clinics a "mob"? |
