Current Rolls Royce jet engines are often leased to the aircraft owners.
Every engine is constantly monitored by satellite transmission all the time
it is running. (Engine Health Monitoring)
This is for maintenance and to spot any early signs of trouble.
All the data come back to the factory in the UK.
So they know when an engine is operating but probably not exactly where.
