Default Repair Pneumatics on Office Chair

The pneumatic lift on my office chair doesn't work any longer - when someone
gets out of the chair, it slowly raises up to the highest position.

Is this something that can be fixed? Can it be a do-it-yourself project or
does it have to be taken somewhere. I tried doing a search for this
information but never found an appropriate website that talked about it.

Thanks - Ruby

You could try a Chair Saver Kit. It used for adjustable office chairs where the cylinder went bad. It keeps the chair at the correct height when a cylinder can no longer support the person sitting in it. In your case you could lower back down to the correct ergonomic height without having to think about where to stop. It requires no tools to installs and can be done in under a minute. And it is a lot cheaper than buying a new chair or trying to replace a cylinder. Check it out at chair-saver.com.
