Default Bryabt Evolution 96t furnace

Hi,
Considering this particular nodel furnace as a replacement for old
Carrier Weathermaker in our house.
Anyone installed this Bryant furnace and how do you like it?
TIA,

I don't have one, but took a quick look at the product
sheet. Two things. First, it apparently has the ability
to choose the fan speed during constant fan on via
a user control. If you ever intend on having the fan on
constantly, that's a good feature. On my new furnace
you can't control the speed, it's hardwired to one
very low setting and I think that is more typical.

Other curious thing is that the features list says it uses
a modulating gas valve, in 1% increments. The specs
though say it's a two stage valve.... Probably just a
mistake in the spec. As I've said before, I would not
pay much more for the modulating feature, as opposed
to just a two stage burner. I really don't see much
advantage in it and would thing that it just adds complexity,
ie if that valve or controller fails, it may cost more than
the simpler, two stage furnace. I'd compare the price
of this one to one that is just two stage, couple points less
efficient, etc.

Hi,
I agree, as far as I know 96t is 2 stage one model below modulating
model. AFUE 98% vs. 96%. I am avoiding modulating one for same reason as
you mentioned. My next choice as Trane XV95 at slightly higher cost.
Installer coming on Tuesday next week. My BIL who is in the commercial
side of the business recommended him so I hope I get a good
installation. I think Carrier Infinity comfort 'stat can control fan
speed. I have PRO1 IAQ wireless 'stat for the time being.

Here's the document I saw. In features it says it's
the continously modulating type. In specs tab it
says two stage gas valve. But it also calls it the
Evolution "Plus" 96T. Maybe that's the difference.

I guess I would not necessarily avoid it. But I definitely
wouldn't pay more than $100 or so more for it either.
I'm not sure what difference there is beyond the gas
valve, nor if there is anything inherently more unreliable
about the variable valve versus two stage.

I think most agree that any new system with a good install
job is better than a top rated system with a crappy
installation.
